No expensive clothes or equipment are needed for a class at Union/Yoga. We have mats and other props available for your use. Most people prefer their own mat, especially to practice at home. These are for sale in our studio if you choose to purchase one.
Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. Be aware that if you wear very baggy clothes the instructor will have more difficulty seeing your alignment. Many women wear stretch leggings and a t-shirt or sports tank. Men tend to wear shorts and a t-shirt. We try to keep the room warm (about 74 degrees) so heavy layers and sweatshirts may be uncomfortable. Yoga is usually practiced barefoot. But it is nice to have socks handy for the relaxation period when body temperature may lower.
